Melbourne L. Shahan, 91,
formerly of Terre Haute, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20,
2008, in Chesterfield, Va. He was born Jan. 4, 1917, in Detroit.
He was a retired sheet metal worker and welder. He was the owner
of Mel-Rose Lawn Ornaments.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Kraemer and Melba
Halley; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 11
great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his
parents; his wife of 49 years, C. Rosaline “Rose” Shahan; and a
daughter, Terry Redloske.
He was a 53-year member of Masons and Shriners, and a member of
Sheet Metal Workers for 50 years.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday in Mattox-Wood Funeral Home,
4600 N. Lafayette Ave., with the Rev. Bill Herb officiating.
Burial is in Summit Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m.
Sunday in the funeral home. Masonic services are 7 p.m. Sunday
conducted by William Penn Lodge 727. In lieu of flowers,
contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
